My immediate reaction to the postcard is that it feels heroic, epic and monumental. Perhaps its' because the object looks larger than it normally is because of the way the photo was shot. Also, to me it feels heroic because of the style the photo was taken. The object, placed right in the middle of the postcard, has a great presence and the back-lighting creates a strong contrast between lights and darks– it reminds me of what a portrait of superman would might like. Also since the object is vintage, I kind of associate it with the comic book era.
From this photograph, I get a negative tone. The colors are dark and neutral and it creates a mood that is mysterious and ominous. The lighting gives the object great importance. From looking at the photograph, I get that this object is very valuable because it's photographed to look larger than life. The placement of the microphone on the radio makes it look like it standing on a stage.
My interpretation of the postcard might have been affected of some preconceived notions that I have about the object because I'm already informed about the CB radio from the last class.
My intent of the postcard was to give it a negative tone. I did want it to seem heroic and larger than life. I wanted to amplify the tone and feeling of the radio with the lighting and placement of it in the composition.
